The representative of the Democracy and Inclusion Movement (MDI) Nicmer Evans stressed that the process must be facilitated so that all Venezuelans, even abroad, can participate in the next electoral processes in the country.
The Democracy and Inclusion Movement (MDI) This Wednesday, a document was filed before the National Electoral Council (CNE) formally requesting the immediate activation of the process of updating the Electoral Registry to respect the right to vote of Venezuelans who have migrated.
This was announced by the president of said political organization, Nick Evanswho explained that this request is due to the fact that these citizens abroad have the real political possibility of being able to participate electorally.
In this sense, the political leader made special mention of the more than two million Creoles who are today in Colombia and Peru.
“We are absolutely convinced that if there is political will on the part of the electoral body, which does not depend on the Executive or the Judiciary, but is an autonomous power (…) If communications are opened, not only through the Foreign Ministry, but of the body itself with the other electoral bodies of both Peru and Colombia, we can be sure that the registration process of Venezuelans outside the country can be immediate,” said the political scientist.
Since @mdi_venezuela We request before the CNE the incorporation to the Electoral Registry of Venezuelan migrants in Colombia and Peru, there are almost 2 million and there is already the political will of the two candidates for the second round in Colombia and of the government of Peru. In this sense, and after publicly adhering to the similar proposal put forward by the Popular Political Unit 89 (UPP 89) organization, Evans ratified that the governing body must promptly take the word of the two candidates for the second round in Colombia. and the concrete fact of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with Peru is taken.
“More than two million Venezuelans who have the right to vote and who can be immediately activated in the Electoral Registry, in addition to addressing all the problems of the Electoral Registry that exist within the country and that have generated a delay in relation to the number of voters who can actually be active,” he said.

In statements offered to the media from the headquarters of the Electoral Power in Plaza Caracas, Evans also alerted the issue of the passport as a requirement, as well as residence paper, for voting abroad. On this point he warned that the Constitution and the law are also very clear in relation to the fact that you have to be Venezuelan and have an identity card.
“Any extra document violates constitutional principles and we need an immediate modification of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes that requires conditions that are absolutely absurd in relation to the type of diaspora, with the type of migration that Venezuelans have generated in the past. years,” he said, stressing that the process should be facilitated so that all Venezuelans, even abroad, can participate in the country’s upcoming electoral processes.
