The former Nicaraguan ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) Arturo McFields questioned the lack of interest of the dictators Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo to know in situ the situation of the areas affected by the passage of Hurricane Julia, reducing the importance of the case to speeches and phone calls.
“More than 10 days have passed and the “President People” that is Ortega, has not visited the people, the disaster area in El Rama. You can’t rule by phone or locked up in a bunker.”

«Territory work and not desk work. ¡#Nicaragua He needs a president and he needs him now! Said the former Nicaraguan diplomat through his official Twitter account.
In interview with Article 66, McFields pointed out that Nicaragua’s problem is that it has a president “who governs by telephone” and that there is a lack of knowledge of reality. «There is a daily monologue in which what the other says is unknown, the problem that the other has and one only lives from a bunker, from a bubble».
“It is not the same to see the number of dead, the number of injured, the number of damages, than to go to the territory, see people suffering, see people without homes, see the floods, get your feet wet,” he added.
He insisted that the Ortega government is a dictatorship that “lives on Mount Olympus with the gods, totally disassociated and divorced from reality.”
Ortega has been locked up for a decade
On the other hand, McFields pointed out that when there are natural disasters, the governments of the left, of the right, dictatorships or democratic governments, go to the territories.
“We saw it with the same dictator of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, he arrived in the territory, he even promised that he was going to give new houses to all the people. Whether it’s a lie or it’s true, he reached the area, —but— Ortega doesn’t even reach the territory. He hasn’t known what it’s like to get his feet wet for more than a decade, get muddy; he lives disconnected from reality », he emphasized.

Faced with Ortega’s attitude, the former ambassador affirmed that there is fear and paranoia of the people and “a very great pride in which they — Ortega’s dictatorship — are on Mount Olympus of the gods and the people are on the side of down. They always talk about the town, they fill their mouths with the town, but they haven’t known what a town is for a long time.”
Finally, he stressed that the Ortega regime “He has already received the first money, the first donations, they have probably even eaten the resources they received, and they still do not go to the territory Much less do they send their chigüines —The children of the presidential couple— (…) and it is unfortunate, because probably the people of El Rama and other communities will never see a shilling of international cooperation».
Recently, the Nicaraguan government spokeswoman, Rosario Murillo, reported through her propaganda media that her regime continues to “evaluate” the damage caused by Hurricane Julia, which recently hit the Caribbean Coast, which according to official data left a balance of more than 6 thousand affected.
“This afternoon —yesterday, Tuesday, October 18— the National Commission for the Evaluation of Damages due to Hurricane Julia will be meeting to present its conclusive report, to present it as soon as possible,” explained the country’s vice president.
