For the third time, the mayors of Herrera agreed, this Wednesday, to extend the suspension of dances, cantaderas, mobile discos and concerts for another 15 days, from February 3 to 17 throughout the province.
The first municipal authorities met again with the governor of Herrera, Víctor Roca Cuan, to analyze the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the province, since on Wednesday the ban on transitory events expired for a month, which had been previously decreed.
The mayor of Santa María, Julio Ulloa, said that after analyzing the situation in the province of Herrera, the decision was made to maintain the suspension of transitory activities for 15 more days to prevent Covid-19 from continuing to spread in the province. region.
He also pointed out that the non-transitory activities that are carried out in fixed premises must also be adjusted to the schedules from Sunday to Thursday until midnight and Friday and Saturday until 2 in the morning.
Although Ulloa recognized that all the municipalities are losing income due to not holding these events, he said the health of the population is above the economic.
He added that once the 15-day period expires, they will re-analyze the reality of the pandemic in the districts of Herrera.
Until this Wednesday, Herrera had 2,024 active cases of coronavirus, of which 23 remain hospitalized, two of them in an intensive care unit. A total of 194 people have died victims of the Covid-19 pandemic in this province.
For his part, the regional health director of Herrera, Luis Pérez, said that although the measure represents a sacrifice for the private company, the health of the population and of the health personnel who are exhausted after almost two years of the pandemic are taken into account. .
He asked the residents of Herrera to get vaccinated and added that 245,000 doses have been placed between the first, second and third doses.
We have to continue vaccinating ourselves in order to clear the intensive care unit and hospital rooms a little, he said.
