The mayor of Yacuiba, Carlos Brú, through the Second Criminal Sentencing Court, asks Roberto Puma, a reporter for Radio Frontera, toreveal the sources of information on the case of the poor condition of school breakfast products in an educational unit in a rural area.
Brú asks for information on which educational unit he took as the source of information, specify who the directors are and provide the source of informationwhich claims that children are being vomited.
In the memorial of the preparatory act for a future complaint, the building authority gives Puma a maximum period of 10 computational days from the notification last Tuesday.
The information on this case was released on June 27 through the “Mañanitas Chaqueñas” program.
Reporter Roberto Puma said that will not provide the data required by Mayor Brú because it is covered by the Printing Law and he has the testimonies of the denunciation of the spoiled products of the school breakfast that support his journalistic work.
“I have nothing with him, he feels uncomfortable because of my work and is asking me to reveal the source of the news that I have given. Parents support me, they indicated that their children have been upset by the products,” he said. In his opinion, this is an intimidation and an attack on freedom of expression.
The Yacuiba Press Workers’ Union, which declared itself in a state of emergency, supports its affiliate and warned that it will defend Puma under the Printing Law that is in force in the country. Other trade union organizations in the sector in the department of Tarija announce their statement in this regard to prevent the case from going to court.
