Mayor of the municipality Juan José Rondón de Guárico passed away

The mayor of the Juan José Rondón municipality of the Guárico state, Raúl Carballo, died this Wednesday, February 22, at the age of 69, presumably due to a Cerebro Vascular Accident (CVA).

The news was released through social networks, where his work team and relatives shared emotional words towards the mayor.

“Today, February 22, is a very sad day for all of us from Mercedes, an invaluable man has left us, a friend, a brother, a father and a tireless servant of our people, always present in each of our struggles,” he wrote in a statement from the staff of the municipality’s mayor’s office.

For his part, the state governor, José Vásquez, through his accounts on digital platforms, lamented the death of mayor Raúl Carballo, noting “we deeply regret the physical departure of Raúl Carballo, mayor of the Juan José Rondón municipality. To family and friends we send our hug of encouragement and spiritual strength, as well as to the town of Mercedes del Llano our unconditional support.

The funeral ceremonies will be held at the Isabel Dale Nursing Home in the Las Mercedes del Llano parish, according to what was published by the municipal council.

Carballo was elected on November 21, 2021, with 49.59% of the votes and ran as a candidate through the Democratic Alliance card.

In 2004, Carballo was also elected mayor of the Rondón municipality, with 38.5% of the vote.
