After the controversy for the house of 12 million pesos, which the senator himself presumed and that he assured is paying credit to the owner of the property known as “House of Silence”the mayor of this municipality recalled that 80% of the lands in this area of Tepoztlán are social and the remaining 20% are ejido.
Interviewed by Azucena Uesti for Radio formulaPerso Quiroz recalled that for this reason, no person, national or foreign can acquire real estate and declare them as “private property”, since the land belongs to all the inhabitants of the region.
“The properties in the municipality are not bought. We have many cases of people from Mexico City or other parts that tell us that their home is private property and we have to explain in detail that Tepoztlán has no private property,” he said.
He added that for several years, Tepoztlán did not enter the destinations with regularization programs for land tenure and that the documentation that some land holders are not valid for purchase-sale shares, since the community has to be requested to permit for this to be carried out.
He added that on many occasions, some public notaries write a contract for the transfer of rights, as a bad practice of this sector, but this does not make them land holders.
“There is a very large pressure of real estate speculation in Tepoztlán, there has been a disorder in the issue of urban development, unfortunately the senator (Noroña) is not the only one,” he said.
After the statements of the senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña about the purchase of his home in Tepoztlán to a foreign person, and after the investigation of Mexicans against corruption and impunity (MCCI) which indicates, based on cadastral records, that the property known as “Casa del Silencio” was divided into three and one of those parts sold to the legislator, Perso Quiroz He clarified that although the property is located in land where human settlements are allowed, it is not possible to perform subdivisions or modifications to the land without prior authorization of the community members.

According to MCCI, although Senator Noroña said that since 2024 he began the procedures for the purchase of his house for 12 million pesos on credit, this transaction was carried out prior to the fact that the properties were subdivided and therefore, there is no validity in the purchase-sale action.
Comuneros announced that on September 6 they will hold a meeting in which they will analyze that the lands in which the “House of Silence” is settled are restored to the people of Tepoztlán.
