Mayor of Tarija proposes to the Government to assume political decision in three activities of the census

The president of the Association of Municipalities of Bolivia (AMB) and mayor of Tarija, Johnny Torres, asked the central government to make a political decision in three census activities to make it possible to carry it out in 2023.

The building authority mentioned that the issue of advertising, data scanning and equipment can be reconsidered with alternatives.

“In advertising it is not required with such a social commotion in the country, that item should be removed. I think that If the Government says 10 months to buy scanners due to bidding, do not do it and hire a company to do it, and in the case of equipment that rents the vans and the balance of the budgeted money is used to hire a greater number of census takers,” explained Torres.

The mayor of Tarija insists that the census in the last quarter of 2023, as proposed by the AMB, the Interinstitutional Committee of Santa Cruz and other institutions, is viable.

At your discretion, the central government should not be closed in 2024 and rather has to take into account the suggested alternativeswhen talking about shortening deadlines in the INE schedule, to overcome the current social conflict.

“Every day that passes the problem gets worse and this will cause a very strong economic scar in the country“, Mayor Torres warned in reference to the alternatives to adjust the activities of the Population and Housing Census.
