Mayor of Santiago announces help to tenants affected by looting on 18-O: “These are crimes that affect people who have their lives armed here”

The mayor of the Municipality of Santiago, Irací Hassler, visited the tenants affected by the looting as part of the third anniversary of October 18, thus announcing aid for trade and taking stock of the incidents that affected the item.

Hassler went to one of the most affected places, Boulevard Alameda, in Barrio Lastarria, where different SMEs have businesses and stores, which were left inoperative after the acts of violence.

“These acts of violence are crimes that affect people who have their lives armed here (…) as a municipality we will invest $5.7 billion in recovering spaces and facades; but this (looting) comes to generate frustration for the affected people, and we are here to tell you that you are not alone,” said the mayor.

Added to this is the legal support plan that the Municipality of Santiago activated for the affected tenants registered yesterday.

In addition, the authority went to the vicinity of the Crown Plaza Hotel, where other tenants were also looted. From Carabineros they indicated that 195 people were detained, there were 15 looting, 18 civilians and 24 police officers were injured.

During the visit, the mayor pointed out that they made available to Carabineros the recordings of the Central Televigilancia Cameras that captured the looting.

Although he indicated that they do not know if the group of criminals who looted the stores has any modus operandi or if they had a joint plan, he did not rule it out.
