In the midst of the controversy, the Mayor’s Office of Santa Cruz clarified that the holding of this year’s carnival has not yet been considered because, on the instructions of Mayor Jhonny Fernández, “all efforts” are focused on stopping the advance of the pandemic. .

The Asociación Cruceña de Comparsas Carnavaleras (ACCC) clarified that the announcement known in the last hours is only a project whose execution is subject to the evolution of the pandemic.

“Given the announcements of preparations for Carnival 2022 by the ACCC, it clarifies to public opinion that the celebration of said festival has not been considered and that, as instructed by Mayor Jhonny Fernández, all efforts are focused on health care public and mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in the city, “says a statement.

The Asociación Cruceña de Comparsas Carnavaleras (ACCC) announced on Tuesday the preparations for a possible realization of the Cruceño Carnival 2022 with strict biosecurity measures.

The announcement comes amid an increase in covid cases in the country, which are expected to decrease for the dates set for this holiday.

Gustavo Gil, president of the ACCC, clarified that it is a project that will take shape if the contagion curve drops with the help of mass vaccination.

However, he specified that due to the magnitude of the holiday “nothing can be improvised”, which is why the carnival plan was approved, as do regions of neighboring countries and even Oruro.

“The COED and the COEM will do (authorize) it as in all departments, there are regions like Oruro that have already made their authorities official in advance, we have to wait since the Santa Cruz curve is the highest until the light comes on. green, but the project is made to start after vaccination helps us and the curve goes down, if not, we will do solidarity again as we did in 2021.

The activity is scheduled for February 27 and 28, in addition to March 1.

The Mayor’s Office pointed out that “although the so-called big party is part of our culture, the Municipal Government’s priority is to fight against the fourth wave of infections from the pandemic that hits the population, which is why all massive activities have been suspended. in the capital of Santa Cruz ”.
