San Luis Potosí, SLP., Edna Yuridia del Carmen Medina Flores, who 16 days ago was appointed substitute mayor of Santa María del Río, resigned from the position to avoid more death threats against my family and myself.

The PAN member assumed the municipal presidency to replace Emmanuel Govea Díaz, who died on December 31 in a car accident, and announced her resignation on Saturday night through social networks.

Govea won the June 2021 elections under the acronym of the PAN, but on December 9 of that year he left the whiteblue and joined the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico.

In recent days, Medina Flores wrote on his Facebook account that he had received pressure to build a gas station and a gas station between Ignacio Zaragoza and Primo Feliciano Velázquez streets, in the municipal capital.

In the council meetings, he expressed his rejection of such works and alleged that one of the reasons was that these facilities would imply the risk of an explosion near three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.

The now former mayor did not reveal who or who threatened her with death, nor did she mention the names of the owners of the works under construction.

Medina Flores argued on her networks: “I am a mother and for my children I will always show my face, and their unconditional love is worth more than anything in this world; no position or highest salary will be above them.

That is why I ask all those who are launching a smear campaign against me, my children and my husband, in the most attentive way, to stop their attacks and slander, I believe that they have already achieved the end they were seeking. I no longer want death threats against my family and myself.
