NEW YORK.- The mayor of this city, Eric Adamshas been in the Dominican Republic since Sunday night to assess the damage caused by Hurricane Fiona and provide millions in aid to the victims.
Adams was received by President Luis Abinader and together they will visit some of the affected areas in the Caribbean country.
Before arriving in the Dominican, he visited Puerto Rico, being received by Governor Pedro Pierluisi, with whom he toured some affected areas, felt the magnitude of the damage and listened to the dramatic stories of those affected.
The New York municipal executive is accompanied by Congressman Adriano Espaillat, the NYC Commissioner of Transportation (DOT), Ydanis Rodríguez, among other elected officials and officials of his administration. Also, Dr. Ramón Tallaj, who directs the SOMOS organization in NY.

The reason for his visit is to bring technical assistance and identify the specific needs of the communities affected by the atmospheric phenomenon that caused great damage in several provinces in the East of the Caribbean country.
