In January of this year, a group of aldermen filed a vacancy request against the mayor for hiring the mother of his daughter in the commune. The case, revealed by Correo, became public and general knowledge. Despite this, council members Jesús Castillo, Marco García and Edwin Canchanya said they were not aware of the case. In other words, they did not comply with their oversight work in so many months since the scandal exploded.
Mayor Mendoza, who for the session that took place on Friday, handed over the direction of the plenary to the first alderman Teodoro Galván, took advantage of this and said that he was not being given the right to defense because he did not have a lawyer.
