In the hours of this Monday, a 13-year-old girl died after being hit by a bullet while traveling in a vehicle with her cousin and two other people in the Chillán commune, Ñuble region.
The driver reported that while he was driving, from one of the buildings in front of the Richard Aguirre Neighborhood Council headquarters, an undetermined number of shots were fired, one of which hit the minor, causing her death.
This is the second fact of these conditions registered in the commune, and it adds to the death of the young carabinero Breant Rivas, who lost his life after being shot in the back in the framework of a police procedure.
As a result of this, the mayor of Chillán, Camilo Benavente, referred in conversation with TVN about the death of the minor, where he said that it occurred “in a context that is being investigated and that we speculate that it has to do with drug trafficking.”
“We have had red pages in the media for six months and the government has done little. We have made a call to the undersecretary for crime prevention of the previous government and of this government,” he commented.
“In recent months there have been many problems of all kinds, and this unfortunately ends with the death of this young woman. And the previous week with the death of a police officer. There is a commune like Chillán, the newest regional capital in Chile, where A couple of years ago there was tranquility,” he added.
“Chillán was a quiet capital, I remember in the social outbreak there were no complications, everything came to fruition, there was always a degree of consideration,” he concluded.
