The mayor of Chile Chico, Luperciano Muñoz, supported the decision adopted by the municipal council of the commune to withdraw the ordinance that requires the use of the mask, thereby affirming that “Carabineros will no longer be able to take parts.”

“We decided this because our sanitary conditions are different. We want this pandemic issue to normalize, we have 104% of the population vaccinated and without major infections,” he explained. “This is common sense, we are in the street every day. We are a small commune in Chile and we don’t need surveys to find out,” she added.
“This measure is about that, to help us leave this pandemic behind and be just another cold. We know how unfortunate it has happened, all the consequences it left behind, but beyond that, we want to focus on mental health and this measure help with that,” he added.
From the Health Seremi they were not indifferent to the announcement, so the substitute Seremi, Jourdan Cabezas, clarified that “resolution 994 of September 2021 that indicates the mandatory use of a mask throughout the national territory is still in force.”
That is why Cabezas called for “not to confuse what the municipal decree announces, the use of a mask is still mandatory and the one who oversees this is the health authority.”
Muñoz replied that if they want to be in the streets monitoring, they will do what they have to do. But we get the ordinance and Carabineros will not be able to get parts of it.”
“We made a political gesture of withdrawing a lot of restrictions. The health authority can carry out health summaries, but we will not support these measures,” he concluded.
