On medical recommendation, the re-elected mayor of Belo Horizonte, Fuad Noman (photo), participated in the inauguration ceremony, this Wednesday (1st), virtually. The 77-year-old politician is undergoing treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, diagnosed in June 2024.
“As a result of drug treatment, the patient is immunosuppressed and is unable to attend events with a large audience due to the risk of contracting infections,” reported Noman’s latest medical bulletin.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is a type of cancer that originates in the lymphatic system, a set of tissues and organs that produce defense cells.
Thanks
During the ceremony at the City Hall, vice-mayor Álvaro Damião read the inauguration speech sent by Fuad Noman.
“I’m also here to thank – firstly, God, who is always by my side, especially when I need it most. I want to thank the medical staff and staff at Mater Dei Hospital who cured me of cancer. And now I am recovering so that I can be ready for this new battle of the second term”, he concluded.
