After completing her first year of government management, Mayor Carmen Meléndez gathered together with the people of Caracas in Plaza Bolívar, to give an account of the achievements that have materialized in the Caracas communities under her leadership.
«We began our management with a restructuring in which we wanted the entire organizational structure of the mayor’s office to be on a par with the capitals. That we could make a government effort to work together with the people,” he said.
In this regard, he stressed that, after a year, “here in Caracas the people are governed, all the communities,” he said. While he highlighted the work of parliamentarians and councilors, by legislating municipal laws in favor of citizenship.
He invited locals and visitors to come to the Municipal Palace to enjoy the revival of the Museum of Caracas ready to learn about the history of the capital.
The leader added that in these spaces there is also an exhibition with all the achievements of a year of government management.
On the occasion, the mayor stressed that they also created the Managed Health Fund for workers attached to the mayor’s office, through which they have important achievements. “We are serving pensioners and retirees and all the active workers of the Mayor’s Office of Caracas,” she said.
In this sense, he took the opportunity to recognize the work of all those who make it possible for the capital’s spaces to be clean and well cared for. “To all our workers, I thank you for your tireless work to have a cleaner and healthier city,” she said.
Likewise, he pointed out that he participated this week in an assembly of the Mercocities, an instance in which Caracas was elected to form the board of directors. “Caracas is not alone, Venezuela is not alone, it was demonstrated in this victorious tour of our President Nicolás Maduro to Egypt,” he said.
Meléndez assumed the mayoralty of Caracas on December 2, 2021, after winning the regional and municipal elections on November 21, with more than 58% of the votes.
