The mayor of Municipality A of Montevideo, Jorge Meroni, presents his resignation this Thursday both from the position and from being part of the Popular Participation Movement (MPP) of the Broad Front, after a complaint of sexual harassment against him emerged.
According to publish Underlinedthe Municipal Council of Municipality A set a meeting for this Thursday at 5:00 p.m. to receive and discuss the resignation of the hierarch.
The MPP had asked him to resign for this fact. Before taking office as mayor, he had been a deputy for the same group between 2015 and 2020.
Municipality A encompasses the neighborhoods of Paso de la Arena, Nuevo París, Belvedere, Prado Nueva Savona, La Teja, Cerro, Casabó Pajas Blancas, La Paloma Tomkinson, Tres Ombúes and Pueblo Victoria.
