Major Guillermo Guzmán, from the Traffic Operations Directorate of the National Police, addressed the issue of clandestine races on Monday and made a call to drivers.

He mentioned that at various points they have observed that they are dedicating themselves to carrying out these activities, specifically in the metropolitan region and West Panama.

“In La Chorrera they are being carried out on the internal avenues, in Costa Verde and the Arraiján-La Chorrera Highway, while, in the metropolitan area, at points such as the Coastal Beltway 1 and 3 (marine section), North Corridor, Brisas del Golf, Corredor Sur and Corredor de los Pobres”, he indicated.

He revealed that these clandestine racing groups are formed through WhatsApp and social networks. “They are always led by people who have a certain good economic level. We have seen that many of them are Panamanians of Asian origin,” Guzmán remarked.

He added that they have communication devices similar to those of the National Police and practically monitor the movements of the agents, making it a little more difficult to neutralize them.
