Within the framework of the commemoration of the 205 years of the libertarian cry, the mayor of Piura, Gabriel Madrid Orue, announced an initial budget of S/ 80 million destined for the execution of projects strategic.

The announcement was made during the solemn session, in which he explained that S/ 12 million have been allocated in the Los Algarrobos sector to recover long-delayed basic infrastructure.
He stressed that it will be allocated mainly to the transportation, education, culture, sports, sanitation and environment sectors.
The mayor recalled that, since the beginning of his administration, in 2023, 244 works have been delivered in different sectors of the city. He specified that more than 50 kilometers of tracks have been built.
He highlighted the modernization of the public cleaning system with the acquisition of 15 new compactors and the decisive boost to the landfill project, which will benefit Piura, Castilla, Veintisísimos de Octubre and Catacaos, putting an end to years of postponement and bad environmental practices.
In terms of citizen security, the mayor announced the installation of 83 360° vision video cameras, reaffirming his management’s commitment to the use of technology to confront crime, recover public spaces and restore peace of mind to Piura families.
When projecting the start of 2026, the mayor recognized the temporary inconveniences generated by the works in progress, but was emphatic in pointing out that Piura will not stop. “The inconvenience passes, the works remain,” he said.
The commemorative activities began with a mass in the Cathedral Basilica of Piura, followed by the raising of the National Pavilion in the Plaza de Armas. Subsequently, the authorities participated in the solemn session held in the Almirante Miguel Grau assembly hall.
