BARAHONA.- The residents of the La Raqueta sector, in the upper part of this city, especially the children, showed their satisfaction and joy after the municipal mayor’s office inaugurated a park children, with an investment of 3.1 million pesos.
The park in question was left in operation after Mayor Víctor Fernández cut the ribbon together with the provincial governor, Dionne Maribel González, and Brigadier General Aguilera Trujillo of the Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD), who were surrounded by a large number of children who had been desperately waiting for the play for a long time.
“In our campaign process we promised this work to the residents of this sector, who previously had to take their children to enjoy games on the boardwalk of this city, almost a kilometer away. Today that is history, “said Mayor Fernández before the hubbub of the children present.
He indicated that from this moment on, the children of La Raqueta will not have to walk such a long distance, because thank God they already have their playground.
This work, which was a campaign promise by Mayor Fernández and today is a reality, is part of the participatory budget of the current municipal administration.
Apart from Mayor Fernández, Governor González and General Aguilera, were present at the opening ceremony; General Peña Adames of DIGESETT, Elson Peña, regional director of INAPA, the vice-consul, Rafael Garó, Frank Figueroa, president of the Council of Regidores, Yeuris Reyes, regional director of Youth, Virtudes Acosta, of the Council of Neighborhood Councils, among other prominent townspeople and high-ranking personalities.
The engineer Alicinette Cury was responsible for the construction of the park, since she was the winner of the public bidding process carried out by the mayor’s office and the Purchasing and Contracting Department.
