The mayor of the district of Panama, José Luis Fábrega, presented to the Municipal Council on Tuesday, a reform to Article 16 of Agreement No.46 of February 21, 2017, which establishes the requirements to be part of the Municipal Police.
The norm, which allows the visible use of tattoos, establishes that those that have a meaning contrary to constitutional, legal, ethical and moral principles and values will not be accepted; that promote discrimination; hate or violence; or that represent gangs, groups or criminal gangs, or political groups or parties.
“We are adapting to the times. We presented to the Municipal Council an update of the Municipal Agreement that governs this group in order to modernize it”, explained Mayor Fábrega.
“In the 30 years that the Municipal Police has been in office, we have reached a training pace never seen before, graduating to date more than 100 new municipal surveillance agents,” he added.
A total of 65 new agents will receive this Thursday the diploma that accredits them as new members of the Municipal Surveillance Corps.
Before the end of the year 2022, it is expected to carry out three new promotions to have a more robust body that can guarantee the generational change.
The Municipal Police of Panama has about 300 officers.
