Mayor Claudia López declares public calamity in Bogotá due to the rains

The mayor of Bogota, Claudia López, declared the public calamity in the city, due to emergencies due to the strong winter season.

The decision was made in the middle of the Unified Command Post (PMU) on the road to the municipality of La Calera, which has been seriously affected by the rains.

It is worth mentioning that This road corridor is closed after a large landslide, landslides and floods on the main road and several villages in that town.which so far leaves two people dead and two more missing.

The District noted that some of the strongest emergencies are recorded in the Santa Ana neighborhood of the town of Usaquén, as well as in the Brisas del Volador sector in Ciudad Bolívar.

Emergency agencies reported that in Santa Ana, the Molinos pipe overflowed, leaving dozens of parking lots flooded and the total loss of the vehicles.

Meanwhile, there is a phenomenon of mass removal affecting five homes, in addition to another 13 that are at risk. However, the residents of the buildings refuse to vacate despite the possibility of their homes collapsing.

For its part, in the town of Chapinero there are damages in the San Isidro and San Luis neighborhoods (on the road to La Calera) after several landslides due to the intensity of the rains.

Mayor Claudia López pointed out that “We declare a public calamity due to a winter wave. That will allow us to have everything we need.
