Mayor Carolina Mejía inaugurates renovated San Gerónimo park

La Alcaldía d ela capital ha remozado más de 200 parques.

Santo Domingo.-Mayor Carolina Mejía delivered the renovation of San Gerónimo Park, whose new children’s area has special areas for children with disabilities.

Regarding the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Mejía explained that the placement of the inclusive area occurred in response to a community request, stating that it is adapted to the real needs of children with disabilities, with gravel, sand and a green area.

The municipal executive praised the positive impact that these types of areas have on the motor, cognitive and sensory development of children.

Likewise, Carolina valued the importance for families of having access to an inclusive space.
For disability
The space is used several times a year for meetings of parents and children with special conditions from different sectors, to receive professional help and share in the children’s area, which will increase in the future with the renovated space.

“The way in which we can transform this beautiful country that we have is when we get involved responsibly, with this work of service,” he said, while recognizing the community leadership of San Gerónimo.

Mejía recalled that part of the success of The City that Breathes, through the recovery of more than 205 parks and squares, is the participation of the community as the main guardians of ensuring that these spaces can be maintained over time.

Carolina assured that this type of space promotes a culture of peace, love and respect, where people can attend the parks to have a pleasant experience. He mentioned the way in which a more humane city is created.
