Maykel Osorbo responds to lieutenant colonel who humiliated him in prison

MADRID, Spanish.- The Cuban musician and political prisoner Maykel Castillo Pérez (El Osorbo) denounced having been humiliated by a State Security lieutenant colonel who visited him on May 31 at the Kilo 5 y Medio prison, where the rapper He is serving a nine-year prison sentence.

In a letter addressed to the lieutenant colonel and shared in social networks by activist and Cuban art curator Anamely Ramos, Maykel Castillo points out: “The honor of my existence and the euphemistic vocabulary with which you violated me, made me clearly know that you are a disrespectful being. Today I correct you: did you like my name so much to the point of saying out loud that Maykel Osorbo was you? My name weighs so much that only I among so many Cubans was chosen to raise up a generation of urban artists in favor of their land and against mistreatment. (I’m not saying this because I’m the only one, but because you guys treat me like I am).”

In addition, he points out that even within the monster and moving roughly through its entrails, the nihilism with which he is living the sentence that has been imposed magnifies him.

“Even knowing the obstacles that lie ahead, I am by no means a complaining man. Today, tomorrow and always I will shine. Because artists like me don’t leave reminiscence. That is not going to happen, Lieutenant Colonel,” the document reads.

Sharing the letter, Anamely Ramos, the opponent’s partner, warned that “from now on, we will have to be very attentive to what may happen to Maykel.”

The rebellious musician winner of two Grammy Awards in November 2021 for the song “Patria y Vida”, had been imprisoned in May of that same year.

In June 2022, he was sentenced to nine years in prison for the alleged crimes of contempt, assault, public disorder, and defamation of institutions and organizations, heroes, and martyrs.
