Rosario Murillo announced that this coming Monday, May 2, will be a national holiday in “celebration of International Workers’ Day”, as established in Law No. 185 of the “Labor Code”.
“Here is the statement, the proposal that the labor minister has sent us where it tells us that the first of May falls on a Sunday and that Monday, therefore, according to our codes and laws, is a holiday because when the national holiday coincides with the seventh day, this must be compensated with the following day in this case on Monday, May 2, ”said the deputy president during her customary speech.

Murillo added that “those workers who must work will be paid as an extraordinary day of work. Commander Daniel has authorized this statement to make it public.” The spokeswoman tried to sell the replacement of the day as a “gift” from her regime, although this prerogative is established in the Labor Code in its articles 66 and 264.
The Ministry of Labor in its statement stated that “in accordance with article 68 of the Labor Code, if any national holiday coincides with the seventh day, it will be compensated and the worker who works will be paid as an extraordinary day of work. Therefore; Compulsory rest is decreed for all workers at the national level.

Likewise, Murillo announced that the payment of May’s salary to public workers will be advanced, calling that with their salary they can “enjoy, recreate, in tourist places and above all thank God for peace, which is work and future,” he said. .
On May 1, Workers’ Day, the world labor movement and the labor force are commemorated.
