The 1st Trial Court of Anzoátegui issued a 30-year prison sentence against Pedro Manuel Campos Ruiz (56) for his responsibility in the femicide of his partner, Isabel Concepción Flores Buriel (37), the Public Ministry reported.
This event occurred on July 29, 2021 in the Cuevas de Guanire sector, Sotillo municipality (Puerto La Cruz), Anzoátegui.
During the night of the aforementioned date, Cicpc officials were alerted about the discovery of the body of a woman who had allegedly committed suicide.
A scientific police commission went to the scene and once there, Campos Ruiz stated that they had had an argument with the woman because he wanted her to leave his home; and he refused, in addition to locking himself in one of the rooms.
According to the man’s story, he entered the room where Flores Buriel locked himself; and found her on the ground with her personal pistol in her hands and without vital signs.
After investigation work, it was found that the 50-year-old had fatally shot him in the pectoral level; Therefore, he was arrested on August 12, 2021 by Cicpc officials.
During the trial, the Prosecutor’s Office ratified the accusation against Campos Ruíz for the commission of aggravated femicide and illicit possession of a firearm, the statement says.
The sentence will be served at the Barcelona Agroproductive Detention Center.
