The Mauricio Báez club won its second match in a row in the final series against San Carlos, emerging triumphant this Saturday 83-65, in the TBS Distrito 2025, held at the Ricardo Gioriber Arias Volleyball Palace of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
Mauricio takes a 2-1 lead in this final round, which is agreed to the best of 7-4, in the search for the 11th crown in the history of the district superior tournaments.
Both teams share the lifetime lead in most championships with 10 each.
The Mauritians are two wins away from their third straight crown, 2023 and 2024, both under the command of leader Melvyn López, who would win his eighth lifetime championship (he is the leader) in the TBS District.
The offensive leader of the Villa Juana squad was “The Beast of Jaya” Luismal Ferreiras, reinforcement of San Francisco de Macorís, who achieved a double-double of 20 points and captured 11 rebounds.
His counterparts were the North American reinforcement Michael Warren with 17 points plus five rebounds, Gerardo Suero went to the showers with 14 points and Richard Bautista scored 12 baskets and distributed nine assists.
For San Carlos, led by Santiago leader Victor Peña, Juan Guerrero shone on the offensive with double figures of 18 points plus 13 rebounds, Eddy Polanco 17, Kevin Mateo 10 and Luis David Montero scored nine points and caught 11 balls.
The TBS District 2025 is organized by the National District Basketball Association (Abadina), chaired by Colonel (PN) Diego Pesqueira, and the Organizing Committee is headed by José Ignacio Paliza, Minister of the Presidency.
This year’s contest is dedicated to the Immortal of Dominican Sports Evaristo Pérez, former member of the national basketball team and former player of the San Carlos squad.
