Matriathe most recent exhibition by photographer and director Gabriel Dávalos, lands at Malecón Art 255 to intertwine body, land and memory in a work that pulses from the intimate. It is not just photography: it is a return to the origin, to the place “where you love, fight and dream.”
The headquarters of Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba once again becomes a living gallery starting this Friday, December 5, and Dávalos makes it clear: nothing substitutes seeing this exhibition in person, in a space where dance breathes every day.
For the first time, the artist brings together dancers from the country’s main companies – from Havana to Guantánamo, Holguín, Camagüey, Matanzas and Santiago de Cuba – photographed in natural settings of their own lands. A celebration of identities, bodies and geographies.
As a prelude, today, December 2, the grandfathers and grandmothers of “Bailar no tiene siempre” will have a pre-launch conceived especially for them.
