He Ministry of Defense He informed this Sunday that on September 20, at 12:00, his cybersecurity systems detected an abrupt increase in applications aimed at the portals measures.gob.do and C5IFFA.Gob.do, consisting of an attempt at massive cyberbells aimed at interrupting the availability of services.
The purpose of the offensive “was to saturate the technological infrastructure by sending applications in a short period of time, hindering the access of legitimate users and exploring possible weaknesses in the configurations of the systems.”
During the day, great intensity traffic peaks were recorded in both portals, which were progressively controlled until normality, without evidence of commitment or affectation to information.
The evaluation determined that it was high volume automated traffic oriented to exhaust resources and map abuse routes, without intrusions being recorded. The operational impact was mitigated, with temporary latency at times of greater intensity, but the general availability of services remained.
“The malicious traffic peak was successfully blocked; the services remained available and the information was not compromised. Nothing is 100% safe in the digital world, but thanks to the constant updates of our technology and the highly trained human resource that the country has, the Dominican Republic keeps its technological infrastructure safe. With the adjustments made, the C5I reinforces its capacity for containment before future attempts, guaranteeing the Continuity of the service and the protection of institutional portals, ”said Defense Minister Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre.
