Massive blackout: recovery of electrical service advances with 80% of demand

Apagón masivo: recuperación del servicio eléctrico avanza con 80% de la demanda

SANTO DOMINGO.– The authorities of the electricity sector reported that the process of progressive recovery of the National Interconnected Electrical System (SENI)after the operational event recorded this Monday morning that caused interruptions in different provinces of the country.

According to him third official bulletinthe system already covers about 80% of national demandwhich shows important advances in the stabilization of the network. The Minister of Energy and Mines indicated that this improvement has allowed new areas to be gradually reincorporated into service.

The official explained that the majority of the national territory has electricity again, including provinces such as Higüey, La Romana, Nagua, Samaná, Montecristi and Valverde Mao. Likewise, he specified that the transmission system was restored and that the substations are energized in a large part of the affected regions, while some plants complete the technical process of increasing the load until they reach their normal operating levels.

From the early hours of the day the southern zonecovering provinces such as San Juan, Barahona, Azua, Baní and San Cristóbalin addition to Bonao, La Vega, Santiago, the Northwest Line, Puerto Plata, San Francisco de Macoríssectors of the National District and San Pedro de Macoris.

The owner of the Ministry of Energy and Mines assured that the technical teams of the different institutions in the area remain deployed continuously until the total normalization of the service. Representatives of the Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED) and other entities in the sector, which remain in permanent session to guarantee the stability of the national electrical system.
