It is worth remembering that last October, Mariños, met at the Government Palace with President José Jerí after traveling more than 1,000 km walking from Pataz until Lime as part of a ‘sacrifice march’ to make their demands visible. But, after that meeting, he gave up participating in the march called by Generation Z, which demanded concrete actions against the State’s inaction in the face of citizen insecurity.
“(The agreements with Jerí) have not been fulfilled. That is why yesterday I requested an urgent hearing (…) They did not comply with anything (…) What I feel is that they would be failing to comply with the meeting that took place in the city of Lima, that meeting had to take place because he had just taken office as president, but to date he has failed to comply. Otherwise, we have to make other decisions, we cannot allow government after government to lie to us,” he added.
Through a video on social networks, Mariños also announced that he is requesting an urgent meeting with the President of the Republic to discuss what happened.
“I submitted a letter to the president requesting an emergency meeting that must now take place (…) let’s go at full speed to the province of Pataz to eliminate these criminal gangs. We must close the mining company until it is clarified,” said Mariños.
