The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, will maintain on Monday a first working meeting with those responsible for the administration of the different ministries of the national Cabinet to analyze “investment priorities”according to the analysis of the budget of each portfolio, and schedule the management for the rest of the year.
The meeting takes on special importance if one takes into account that public spending had a year-on-year increase higher than the accumulated inflation in each period in every month of the first semester, so it will be a matter of coordinating with each area the priorities in the expenditures.
“We have made an appointment for Tuesday to all those responsible for the administration of ministries to give them the programming until the end of the year, so that they know the investment priorities and the spending ceilings”indicated Massa on his Twitter account.

The purpose of reducing spending is complemented by other measures that the Ministry of Economy will finish outlining in the course of this week, among which the establishment of the new rate charts for electricity, gas and running water servicesin order to reduce the weight of subsidies in the fiscal result.

The new officials will have to work against the clock to conclude this Thursday the new tariff scheme resulting from the entry into force of the segmentation by income levels, complemented by the consumption limit criteria by sector and geographical region.
This last factor is related to the peculiarities of regions such as Patagonia, with higher energy and gas consumption due to climatic issues, as well as the provinces of Chaco, Formosa, Corrientes and Misiones, which do not have access to the home natural gas network. and, consequently, demand a higher consumption of electricity.
Targeting will go into effect on September 1simultaneously with the caps established for water consumption, in those cases in which users have a metered service.
