Massa and the president of the Honduran Congress signed a cooperation agreement

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, received the head of the Honduran National Congress, Luis Redondo, in a meeting focused on opportunities to expand the cooperation frameworks of both countries and in which an institutional agreement on matters legislative.

Massa and Redondo reviewed the status of the bilateral relationship, which resumed its traditional volume in recent years, and in that sense they highlighted the presence of an important parliamentary delegation from Argentina at the handover ceremony on the occasion of the inauguration of President Xiomara Castro, it was reported from the area of House press.

As for the cooperation issues, They highlighted the work that has been carried out in economic matters with different forums and business missions. In this regard, bilateral trade is in surplus for Argentina and in the last five years the trade balance increased by 136%.

The main products exported are automotive and pharmaceutical, while opportunities to increase sales are highlighted in the medical equipment, laboratory, food and agricultural machinery sectors.

In addition, the parliamentary authorities of both countries signed an institutional cooperation agreement between the National Congress of the Republic of Honduras and the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, whose objective is cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the areas of legislative function.

This document provides for the carrying out of activities that have as their objective the exchange of knowledge in the technical and administrative areasas well as in the use of new technologies for institutional development together with support for the training of experts and administrative personnel.

At the end of the meeting, Redondo gave Massa the original flag of Honduras, which since the assumption of the new government recovered the original turquoise color. This is the first time that this national symbol has been presented to a foreign Parliament.

Also participating in the meeting were the Deputy Secretary General of the Honduran Parliament, Carlos Zelaya; the Argentine national deputies Eduardo Valdés, Lisandro Bormioli and Rosana Bertone; the general director of Parliamentary Diplomacy, Ariel Sotelo, and the new Argentine ambassador to Honduras, Pablo Vilas.
