The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, ratified this Monday the Government’s commitment to lowering inflation, arguing that “it is a challenge that forces us, that imposes the need to continue taking measures, from the micro, such as the meat, even the macro”, and announced that there will be new announcements in the coming days to meet that objective.
“Today, tomorrow and the day after we are going to be announcing measures linked to the micro, but also strong measures linked to the macro, so that the fiscal order, the accumulation of reserves and the defense of the value of the Argentine sovereign debt are instruments that make it possible to definitively stabilize the Argentine economy to make it competitive, and so that the citizen does not suffer that saw that often occurs in the prices of our economy,” he said .
Also, during the presentation “Fair Meat Prices”, Massa underlined the main benefits of the program, which seek to recover the production process, improve the supply and marketing flow, as well as take care of citizens’ pockets.
In January, meat was one of the products that most affected inflation and to respond to these increases and accompany a sector affected by droughts, with #FairPrices Producers will be able to access aid for up to 40% of the food necessary for the Feedlot.

“The first measure allows that, within 120 days, we have increased the slaughter by 20%taking part of what the producer has to fatten -feeding the feed-lot-, and financially supporting the producer due to his financial situation, establishing a volume that increases his sales and subsequent slaughter, in a quarter of the offer”, expressed the minister during the presentation held at the Palacio de Hacienda.
Therefore, this decision -which includes exporting refrigerators and supermarkets- will impact the current supply volume, which is 2,500-3,000 tons, “guaranteed 18,000 supplies with a price reduction of 30% of what is currently in gondola”.
In this sense, Starting this Friday, Argentines will have a 30% price reduction, and also a supply volume that is 6 times greater.
Clear rules and greater accompaniment allow us to expand #FairPrices with 50,000 essential consumer products at clear and predictable prices, bringing certainty to the pocket of Argentines so that they can live better and better.#CreoEnArgentina pic.twitter.com/ISHOq7ZvO6

Regarding the benefits that neighborhood chains will receive, he said: “We put state resources to reduce the costs of the citizen, and those who buy Saturdays and Sundays with the Banco Nación card will have a 30% direct discount, each time they make a purchase in the next two months.”
Regarding the billing of the butcher shops, he asked the butchers to “maintain calm”, since their sales would not affect their AFIP category, because “when the AFIP proposes the suspension of the category it is so that they have access to 5 million of pesos of credit to improve its operation and has a free posnet”, he said.
Besides, those who buy up to $20,000 pesos, with any debit card, the AFIP will automatically return 2,000, with a refund of 10% of the purchase to lower the weight that each citizen’s pocket has on the price of meat.
“It can happen that someone makes a purchase of 6,000 in a butcher shop, has a 35% discount from Banco Nación, plus the $650 refund from the AFIP, and someone can also make an account of 6,000 and end up paying a little more of $3,200 because the program is not exclusive, and we want it to have an impact on people’s pockets,” he concludes.
