The number of deaths due to traffic accidents in Cuba increased 18 % during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. Between January and March of this year, 173 deaths were reported, 27 more than in the same period of 2024, when 146 deaths were recorded.
The main causes of these accidents in the country remain the lack of maintenance in road infrastructure, the obsolete state of the automotive park – with vehicles that exceed four decades of use – and human failures, such as the non -observance of traffic standards or negligent driving.
