The Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) defended its boss Evo Morales on Wednesday and attacked the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, who they point to as having links with Colonel Maximiliano Dávila; while Camacho said that the former police chief gave a clear message to the former president: Either help Dávila, or sing.
“Luis Fernando Camacho, the governor of Santa Cruz, is desperately trying to distract public opinion with unfounded accusations against the former president of Bolivia and president of MAS, Evo Morales,” says a MAS-IPSP statement, titled: “Camacho, el distractionist coup.”
They point out that Camacho is trying to distract attention because he is scared by the progress of the investigations of the ghost items case, and what worries him is that it will be revealed that this money was used for the Santa Cruz civic strike, which triggered the alleged coup of State.
“Camacho has more ties to Maximiliano Dávila than to anyone. The former commander of the Felcn was ratified in office by former minister Arturo Murillo, a colleague of the former minister of the Presidency, Jerjes Justiniano, a lawyer and record of the Santa Cruz governor in the de facto government. Dávila was a partner of Luis Fernando López, Jeanine Añez’s former Minister of Defense and Camacho’s chief of marketing,” they say from the MAS.

In response, Camacho questioned the fact that to date former President Morales has not ruled on the facts that link former anti-drug police chief Dávila with drug trafficking.
“It is a clear message that former anti-drug police chief Dávila is giving to former president Evo Morales, or he helps him or he sings. The links must be investigated, because those who have assumed the high police command were close to former President Evo Morales and that is what draws our attention, “said the Governor.
