MAS condemns treatment of Venezuelan migrants by the US and Latin America

Felipe Mujica said that the administration of Joe Biden and that of Nicolás Maduro coincide in ignoring the human rights of migrants. He stressed that the migratory phenomenon is something that has happened many times in the history of Humanity

The secretary general of the Movement for Socialism (MAS), Felipe Mujica, expressed on Monday, October 24, his condemnation of the treatment received by Venezuelan migrants abroad, since in his opinion the countries of Latin America, the United States and the administration of Nicolás Maduro are ignoring the human rights of our nationals, since they have left the country in search of a better quality of life that they cannot achieve in Venezuela.

Mujica commented that, although the countries that receive migrants have the right to apply the measures that best suit their circumstances on this issue, within Venezuela there is the right to demonstrate for the treatment they receive because it is a violation. open human rights

This is how the MAS pronounces after the immigration measure imposed by the US to deport Venezuelans who seek to enter the country illegally; coupled with another mechanism that opens the possibility of receiving 24,000 citizens from the nation as long as they meet requirements such as having a “sponsor” who covers their expenses for two years.

He said that, although the administration of Joe Biden and Nicolás Maduro are at odds politically, they agree on their ignorance of human rights.

Felipe Mujica took the opportunity to reject the measures taken by various countries against Venezuelan migrants and wondered if similar decisions had been made in the country against immigration that arrived in the nation in previous decades.

The response of the MAS politician coincides with Panama’s decision not to allow the passage of Venezuelan migrants who come from North America, since they do not have a visa to enter the territory; as well as organizing those who are irregular in their territory waiting for them to buy the air ticket to return voluntarily.

In that sense, he stressed that the migratory phenomenon is something that has happened on many occasions in the history of humanity and recalled what happened in Colombia during the 20th century, when around six million Colombians settled in Venezuela to flee from the war. generated by groups such as the FARC and the ELN.

He pinned his hopes on the country being able to recover what it used to be “and that those millions of Venezuelans who are outside today can return to this country to live again with their families and with the Venezuelans who are here,” according to a Press release.

On the other hand, the MAS leader insisted on the reunion of the opposition sectors in order to find a joint solution to the country’s problems and achieve progress in improving the living conditions of citizens.
