The Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, assured this Friday that “the Government continues to work to resolve the situation of gas oil supply throughout the country” and stressed that shortages at service stations “decreased by 50%”.
Regarding the protests that different associations of carriers have been carrying out claiming fuel shortages, Martínez indicated that “The Government took several measures to increase the volumes of diesel to supply the demand, increased the biodiesel cut to 12.5%, which will generate an injection of 80,000 cubic meters per month at service stations”.
In addition, the Secretary of Energy added that “on the other hand, the ICL was compensated to the refineries so that they maintain and increase the importation of the necessary diesel.”
“Refineries are producing at full capacity. For this, we convinced and worked with independent producers so that they supply all the necessary crude to the National Refining before exporting, and we have achieved it,” added the official.
Martínez expressed that “after taking these measures, the refineries reported that, in terms of supply, the breaks in its service stations decreased to 50%, and this decrease would be accentuated if this conflict of road closures and refinery blockades did not mediate”.
As a gesture to unblock the conflict, Martínez said that they received the transport federations “who highlighted as their main claim the lack of transfer of the wholesale price of diesel to the rate established by the National Ministry of Transport, which is the base with who discuss and negotiate prices with those who hire them”.
“It is the decision of our Government that Argentines and our economy do not suffer exorbitant prices and costs as is happening in other parts of the world in this energy commodity price crisis”added the native of Neuquén.
And he concluded: “pure demand, even though it has risen a few points accompanying the level of activity, only explains 10%, that is, half of this extraordinary increase. The rest is the product of speculation and stocking, encouraged by what international prices that even doubled in dollars”.
