Prosecutor Germán Juárez Atoche did not request the extension of the exit impediment measure against the former president Martin Vizcarra, who is being investigated for the Lomas de Ilo case and Moquegua Hospital. The order was for 18 months.
Through File 00033-2020-1, the Fifth National Preparatory Investigation Court decided to lift the measure of impediment to leave the country imposed on Martín Vizcarra since the period included for the measure would have already ended.
The resolution indicates that the impediment to leaving the country expired May 12, 2022and that the Prosecutor Juárez Atoche, who was handling the case against the former president, did not request that this measure be extended nor did he present new arguments to continue with this sanction.
In this case, the former president Vizcarra Cornejo is investigated around the statements that aspiring collaborators gave before the office of the prosecutor Germán Juárez Atoche regarding alleged bribes when he was Regional Governor of Moquegua by companies linked to the ‘Club de la Construccion’ in exchange for the Lomas de Ilo Irrigation Project and the Hospital of that region in the south of the country.
Vizcarra remains under a mandate to appear with restrictions subject to compliance with rules of conduct such as not being absent from the town where he resides without prior judicial authorization, not disclosing information regarding his process and appearing before the prosecutor and judicial authority when required, in addition to go through the respective biometric control.
