The Fourth National Collegiate Criminal Court confirmed that this Monday, October 28, the oral trial against the former president will be held Martin Vizcarra for the alleged crime of bribery in the Lomas de Ilo and Hospital de Moquegua case.
It turned out that the appeal of the former president’s legal defense, who requested the Judiciary, days ago, to declare the nullity of the installation of the oral trial arguing that there was “non-observance of the essential content of the fundamental right to due process” in his statements and of the principle of criminal procedural legality, would be seen during the hearing.

The start of the trial is scheduled for 9 in the morning in Room 1 of the Carlos Zavala building, next to the Palace of Justice, and will be led by the panel chaired by Fernanda Ayasta and made up of her colleagues Lorena Sandoval and Giovanni Félix.
As recalled, Martín Vizcarra is being prosecuted for the alleged commission of the crime of passive bribery in the Lomas de Ilo and Moquegua hospital case during his tenure as regional governor of Moquegua.
This case began in March 2021 after statements from aspiring effective collaborators, who reported the payment of alleged bribes by companies linked to the so-called Construction Club in exchange for the Lomas de Ilo irrigation project and the construction of the hospital in said southern region.
Due to these events, the Public Ministry has requested a sentence of 15 years in prison against Martín Vizcarra.
