The 62-year-old former president, who is serving preventive detention in the Barbadillo penitentiary center, was evacuated under strict security measures to an EsSalud establishment located in the Ate district.
According to sources close to the former president, Vizcarra would have suffered a hypertensive crisis.
This is the second time that the former head of state has presented a decompensation of such magnitude in less than a month; The most recent episode occurred on December 19, 2025.
The National Penitentiary Institute of Peru (INPE) has not issued, for the moment, a statement on the transfer of the former president or on the measures adopted after the medical emergency.
Vizcarra is serving a 14-year prison sentence after being found guilty of the crime of passive bribery, within the framework of the Lomas de Ilo and Hospital de Moquegua cases, linked to his management as regional governor. The sentence was handed down by the Fourth Collegiate Criminal Court of the National Superior Court, which ordered his immediate arrest in court.
