The former president reported that he began experiencing pain on January 3, but that he had surgery 18 days later. “I lost my left kidney due to the delay,” he lamented.

During the surgery on the former president last Tuesday, two stones were removed from the ureter and one from the right kidney. In addition, a severe uretal stenosis was detected that caused advanced hydronephrosis, according to the official statement issued by the health center.
The intervention took place at noon and lasted about an hour. Specialists reported that the most serious obstruction is in the left ureter, which required additional examinations to evaluate the extent of the damage and plan a new corrective surgery in the short term, due to the risk of further deterioration of kidney function.
