Martín Torrijos meets with young people to learn about their concerns about the course of the country

Youth is an essential part of the country’s transformation process, therefore, we must listen to what they have to say about the multiple problems facing the population, said presidential candidate Martín Torrijos Espino, during an extensive talk with young professionals, athletes and university students from different areas.

“You young people are the future of Panama, therefore your inclusion in the country’s transformation process is essential. We need to listen to their voice, their knowledge, and their social conscience to achieve the necessary changes in education, health, agriculture, transportation, security, quality of life in general, and sports. Let’s do it together,” said the former President of the Republic during the discussion.

He added that it is satisfying to listen to a youth concerned for the country, not only for the problems it faces, but also for the rest of the Panamanian population. “The fundamental thing is that there are young people who want to participate in the solutions and the transformation process of the country,” stressed the presidential candidate for the Popular Party (PP).

The young people agreed on the need to improve the educational system at all levels. For example, the adaptation and updating of the academic curriculum, with technical careers that the labor market demands; create entrepreneurship and employment opportunities; more efficient and humane public health and social security services; and fight corruption.
They pointed out that, from now on, there will be a more participatory youth in this type of dialogue with leaders who wish to generate a positive change for Panama. “Each of the proposals made involves all of us as a country, and we must each try to do their bit so that together and with him, who has the experience and capacity, do the best for our country,” said Nicolle Solís , dentistry student.

“I take peace, tranquility and confidence that one can sit down with him and talk about the problems that young people have, what Panama is going through and how this can be changed as of 2024,” said Ayleen. Bernal, professional in Marketing and Advertising.

For months, former President Torrijos Espino has traveled the country to listen directly to different sectors of society, productive forces and academies about their concerns and proposed solutions to these problems.
