Former President Martín Torrijos in an interview with journalist Enrique Arosemena for Radio Panama referred to his aspirations as a candidate for the presidency for the 2024 general elections, explained why he believes he can take the reins of the country to improve the current situation in Panama.
I also talk about security, the political attacks on his person after making his announcement to participate in the electoral contest, possible political alliances and the issue of Minera Panama.
“It is no secret to anyone that the majority of Panamanian families are not having a good time, the economic situation is getting more complicated every day, a country that is politically deteriorating is getting more complicated every day, our problems are getting more complicated every day of democracy, but these complications that the country is experiencing invite us to reflect and invite us to act, and I, with the experience, the track record and, above all, the will, want to build a plural project that allows Panamanians a different vision towards the future, to recover hope and recover the leadership that society has been losing as a result of the divorce that exists between political parties and the rest of the citizens”, expressed Torrjios.
For former President Torrijos, the Democratic Revolutionary Party is not seeing the national reality “With the PRD and because of this current leadership, they are far from the national reality but above all they are far from the Panamanians who do not see this political party and others , an instrument that represents them and that are concerned about their interests, the PRD cannot convene a great national consensus with this leadership.
