Martín Torrijos announces that he will seek to be a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 2024, but not within the ranks of the PRD

Former President Martín Torrijos announced through his social networks that he seeks to be a presidential candidate in the May 2024 elections but that his candidacy will not be within the ranks of the Democratic Revolutionary Party.

“Our Panama is experiencing a severe crisis that cannot be hidden, only a disease has to occur in the family, which already works miracles to educate their children and pay the mortgage, for that family to go from middle class to poverty,” he said. Torrijos

He stressed that violence spreads in our streets and corruption not only permeates the government, but also society.

He stated that the deterioration experienced by the PRD has also been subjected to undemocratic practices.

“The PRD seems to have owners, today the bases are ignored, that group that dominates today is not up to the task, they are not Omar’s PRD,” said Torrijos.

“To get out of this crisis, a national consensus is required and we agree, that need is what forces me to act now,” Torrijos announced.

He stressed that, as former president of the Republic, he has the experience and the will to face problems such as: lack of employment, the Social Security Fund, deficient health system, inequality in education and the need to combat corruption.

“Let it be very clear, my candidacy will not be within the PRD,” Torrijos stressed.

I announce that in the coming months he will tour the country to find those who share this vision and together present an option that will make the majority of Panamanians proud.
