“More confidence brings more investmentmore investment generates more employment. There is nothing more important than generating employment.” This was highlighted by the executive director of Fundación Romero, Martín Pérez.
During his presentation at the XI Meeting of Business Leaders, he assured that what is needed in the country is for businessmen to find an environment of trust to invest, but that today that does not happen.
“If they tell me right now if I want to invest in mining, I would say no, that it is complicated by illegal mining. If they tell me if I want to open a nightclub, there is no way because while you are building it, the extortionists will fall on you,” he added.
For this reason, he called on young people not to stop voting in the next elections because he considered that it is “unacceptable that there is absenteeism.” In addition, he made a request for them to read who are those who are in the presidential plan of their choice.
“For me we have lost 15 years, I wish we had 15 years where we grow between 5% and 6%. Get involved in your country,” he said, addressing the audience made up of university students.
On the other hand, he pointed out that although it is complex for political parties to agree, there are two points on which consensus must be generated: institutionality and competitiveness.
Regarding the first, he indicated that it gives stability to companies and ensures that there is no overregulation as happens in the Peruvian case. In the second point, he pointed out that it is necessary to have a more competitive State.
Martín Pérez even presented his tactical approach for competitiveness equivalent to the “11” of a soccer team. In the arch, goes the State. In defense, education, citizen security, health and macroeconomic stability. For the medium, the businessman chose formality, a favorable business environment and productive employment. He already placed modern infrastructure, investment promotion and efficient regulation at the forefront.
