“The French international injured his hamstring late in the match during the 2-1 win against Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday” in the Premier League, United announced in a statement.
“Exams have since revealed a muscle tear depriving the 27-year-old of the match at Wembley,” his club continued.
Martial scored nine goals in 29 games this season, in which he has had several injuries.
He has only started eleven times in the 21 league games he has played, but he hopes to start at Wembley against City, who won the Premier League and at the end of the course aspires to also win the English Cup and the Champions League.
Manchester United ended the Premier League season in the third position.
