Martial law extended in Ukraine for 30 days

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky today approved the extension of martial law in Ukraine for 30 days from Saturday, March 26, reported the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament).

The legislation came into force with the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine on February 24 and under its protection the kyiv authorities established different regulations considered for wartime.

Also this Sunday, the official website of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported that Zelensky approved that body’s proposal “on the implementation of a unified information policy under martial law.”

According to the document, this decision ensures a single platform for strategic communication, in which all television channels are linked in a 24-hour news broadcast.

On this day, Zelensky decided to suspend the activities of the parties opposed to the Government and considered pro-Russian for the duration of the martial law established in the country on February 24.

The legislation orders a special entry and exit regime in the territories, the restriction of freedom of movement and authorizes possible inspections.

It also prohibits mass gatherings, regulates the temporary or permanent evacuation of people from dangerous areas, and authorizes curfews.

Other measures are associated with the suspension of conscripts, persons subject to military service and reservists, from changing their place of residence without notifying the competent authorities.
