Martí Batres confirms AMLO's Cry of Independence in person at the Zócalo

During 2020 and 2021, the celebration was held virtually due to the risk of contagion from COVID-19, and fences were even placed around the Zócalo plate to avoid crowds.

“After two years in which it became virtual due to the pandemic, now it is going to be a face-to-face Scream, as it should be, we are going to have a parade,” Batres said.

The Secretary of Government considered that there are necessary conditions to be able to carry out the patriotic celebration in person and stressed that massive events have already been held in the Zócalo, such as the Government Report of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as Silvio’s concerts Rodríguez and La Maldita Vecincidad carried out by the Government of the capital.

“There is already open activity in the Zócalo of Mexico City, there have been great events, concerts,” he assured. The official qualified by indicating that what is related to this celebration “will be reported by the Government of the Republic.”
