“Mars”: they condemned the 10 members of the gang that negotiated drugs through WhatsApp and delivered them by delivery

This Friday the hearing was held in which the sentence was handed down against the 10 detainees in the framework of operation “Mars”, which managed to dismantle a criminal gang that sold drugs through the use of digital platforms such as WhatsApp and even delivered them by delivery .

According to what was reported by the Ministry of the Interior, the gang operated under the modality of micro-trafficking and distributed drugs in different points of the country’s capital.

“Marte” involved carrying out raids on homes located in Montevideo and Canelones. Specifically, real estate located in the neighborhoods of the tileCordón, Brazo Oriental, Cerro, among others.

During the raids, the Police seized more than 125,000 doses of base paste and 5,200 marijuana buds. In addition, cannabis plants ready for processing and 12 ecstasy pills were found inside 14 plastic balls. MDMA. In turn, other synthetic drugs were found, such as three small bags with tussi, two bottles of ketamine, 13 doses of LSD. A container with hallucinogenic mushrooms was also found.

The Police also found four 22-caliber ammunition and seized 20 cell phones, two computers and six precision scales, almost 95 thousand pesos and two vehicles.

The investigations determined that the members of the organization agreed with the buyers of the drug through closed WhatsApp groups and then delivered the substances by return.

At the time, the 10 people were arrested (three of them with criminal records) who were sentenced in the last hours.

The miseries

According to what is indicated by sources from the Prosecutor’s Office, all those formalized received sentences: eight of them for the crime of negotiating narcotic substances and another two for assisting criminal activities.

Those convicted of the most serious crime (negotiation of substances) received a sentence of up to four years in prison. On the other hand, those sentenced for assistance must serve a sentence of 12 months probation with conditions.

Among the convicted are three people who worked as car attendants and sold drugs at the same time.

In charge of the investigation was the prosecutor Stella Llorente.
